The Conference held in Rasht in September 2015 was not only the 4th International Caspian Conference overall, but it was the first ever held in the homeland of the Caspian Horse. It coincided very happily with the 50th Anniversary of Louise Firouz’ discovery of the Caspian in 1965, which added an extra poignancy to the occasion.
Our host was the Equestrian Federation of Iran, who worked with the International Caspian Society to invite international and Iranian speakers of high calibre and relevance to the preservation of such a rare breed.
The CHS would like to thank the Federation and all those who organised and took part in the event for their warm and generous welcome. They made it a very special occasion, leaving us with wonderful memories of Iran, its people and its Caspian horses.
CHS was well represented. The eight members who attended included five of the speakers and two judges. Three new members joined us afterwards as a direct result of the Conference.
