*New DEFRA equine ID regulations.*
A new Statutory Instrument has been placed before parliament. This requires ALL horses to be microchipped by October 2020. As from October 2018, local authorities may choose to regard non compliance with the regulation as civil rather than criminal. This will make enforcement easier, penalties may include issuing compliance notices or fines up to £200. Click here for link to SI.
*New Central Equine Database*: Caspian passport holders please note: the CED is now 'live'. Go to www.equineregister.co.uk and register your interest. You will be able to find your horse and check the details are correct.
It is a legal requirement that all horses have passports within a certain time frame and changes of ownership, castration and deaths should be reported to the Registrar within 30 days of the event. Data will be entered on the Central Equine Database. It is in your interests that up to date data should be entered. CHS Rules and Regulations and other information can be downloaded below. Registrar email click here to obtain application and amendment forms and with any queries you may have.
*Passports issued by THE CASPIAN BREED SOCIETY (UK)*
The registration of your foal and the issue of its passport should be done at the same time. The passport is an EU legal requirement, and registration according to CHS Rules and Regulations (to download click here) ensures that Caspians throughout the world are registered following the same basic rules. It is vital that your paperwork is correct from the beginning, as this will avoid possible problems later in the horse’s life.

REGISTRATION DISPUTES
The Society is only a registration authority and cannot decide ownership or financial disputes, which are a matter for the courts. If you buy or lease a horse, or have a mare covered, do make sure the paperwork is correct. It really is easier to get it right at the outset than to rue the day and have an acrimonious dispute later.
