FOAL REGISTRATIONS

A foal, pure or part bred, should be registered by the time it is six months old.  EU requires the foal to be microchipped and a passport to be issued by 6 months old.  At the same time, the vet should take a minimum of twenty mane hairs with follicles attached placing them in and countersigning on, the envelope supplied by the registrar.  These will be kept for DNA testing should it be required in the future.

For more information please refer to the CHS Rules & Regulations (above) which have been amended to conform with DEFRA'S new requirements

REGISTRATION DISPUTES

The Society is only a Registration Authority and cannot decide ownership or financial disputes, which are a matter for the courts.  If you buy or lease a horse, or have a mare covered, do make sure the paperwork is correct.  It really is easier to get it right at the outset than to rue the day and have an acrimonious dispute later.

TRANSFERS (Selling your Caspian?)

It is IMPORTANT to return your Caspian or Part-Bred Caspian's Registration Papers, Passport and the Transfer Fee, with details of the new owner to the CHS Registrar when you sell your Caspian or Part-Bred.  This is so that the new owner can be registered as the legal owner of the horse and the CHS knows of its whereabouts.

STALLION LICENSING

Standard (Vet only) licence:  Please apply to the Registrar for the application form, to be completed and returned with £15 fee.  A CHS-appointed vet must inspect the colt.

Stallion Assessment to Breed Standard, for licensed stallions or pre-licence, is also available.  Contact Liz Webster (Chairman) - e mail

Breed  Standard  Approval   for Licensed Stallions.

The BSA scheme for licensed stallions is a voluntary scheme which aims to encourage the preservation of the unique Caspian qualities by Caspian breeders.

Owners of licensed stallions are invited to have their stallion appraised by a panel of CHS approved judges to qualify for a BSA certificate in accordance with the Breed Standard.

They are entitled to append the initials B.S.A. to these stallions’ names wherever they are shown, with the exception of the International Caspian Stud Book, under the same terms as attached to their stallion licences.
