Help us
Raise Funds to save the Caspian for
future horse-lovers - donate to our gene bank fund
The
Caspian Horse Society (UK) works for the benefit and promotion of the
rare
Caspian Horse of Iran. We
are raising
money to set up a Caspian Gene Bank - with two important purposes.
The
first is to preserve as many of the breed’s valuable bloodlines as
possible
against loss by disease or death.
The
second is to make bloodlines available to overseas breeders which they
would
otherwise be unable to access and thus maintain the integrity, purity
and
unique features of the Caspian breed wherever it is bred. To do this, semen must be
obtained and
correctly stored from as many bloodlines as possible, a costly exercise
requiring expert knowledge, but considered vital to the breed.
Thanks
to some generous donations, the fund so far stands at £3,030. More than £10,000 will be
required to send
two Caspian stallions for suitability testing at the West Kington
Stallion
Centre owned by Jane Holderness-Roddam.
We hope you will help us to raise more money
towards this valuable work.

Biography
of Artist Roy Reynolds will feature Capsians
As
the
great, great, great nephew of
Sir Joshua Reynolds, painting is obviously in the family!
The
well-known artist, Roy Reynolds, highly
esteemed in his own right, is to be the subject of a fascinating
biography now
being written. Roy was a
great friend
of the late Arthur ‘Griff’ Griffin, a partner in the Caspian Stud UK,
(Hopstone
prefix) the first importers, breeders and exporters of Caspians in the
United
Kingdom. Roy’s life has
been interesting,
often difficult and full of wonderful art and he tells me that he has
many
happy memories of his days with the
Caspians. His oil painting of
Rostam and
Khorshid Kola was presented to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh at
Buckingham
Palace, by Roy and Jane Reynolds, Jaffa Jenvey, Liz Webster and
Griff.
It was warmly received and later displayed
alongside the Coronation Coach at the Royal Mews in London, where it
has been
admired by countless thousands of people.
Roy
tells us that the Caspian Horse will
feature prominently in his biography. I
hope that this connection will bring the Caspian some well-deserved
publicity. I also hope those of us
who
love the Caspian and appreciate Roy’s wonderful art will want to read
the book
when it is published. As soon as
it’s
available, details will be given in the CASPIAN magazine.

It’s well worth
visiting Roy’s website: www.rpreynolds.com
where you will see the Caspian painting and
sketches.
